Org Tech
:
As a central engineering and solutions team, the team designs, develops, and manages critical technology platforms that enable research portfolio management, and enhance productivity and effectiveness within the organisation. Our scope includes building an in-house portfolio management tool, enabling Google Deep Mind's publication process, creating internal tools for people processes, providing essential data engineering support, developing AI-driven tools for enhanced internal efficiency, and facilitating large-scale Compute resource management via tooling.

Our team is part of the GDM Technical Operations & Analytics team. Tech Ops & Analytics combines engineering skills with portfolio management, compute planning, and data analytics to organise, evaluate, and accelerate the delivery of GDM’s mission. We are a core group of ~50 people with diverse skills and backgrounds, working with many teams and leaders across the company to create and nurture an environment suited for state-of-the-art research and innovative product development.

We prioritise projects with broad & strategic impact across Google Deep Mind, while also providing focused capabilities to accelerate key efforts.

The role

We are seeking a seasoned Software Engineer for our Org Tech team. You excel at designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable systems, bringing strong experience in full-stack engineering. As a member of Org Tech, you’ll work alongside experienced engineers on tools that materially impact the workflows of your colleagues across Google Deep Mind. Your users are internal, providing a unique opportunity for close collaboration, immediate feedback, and rapid iteration.

This role directly impacts how the organisation functions, collaborates, and innovates. You thrive on tackling complex technical challenges and translating diverse internal needs into effective and efficient software solutions. You will act as a key technical contributor, proactively identifying opportunities to leverage technology for improvement and partnering with stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-End Solution Delivery: Partner with diverse internal stakeholders (across research, engineering, operations, etc.) to design, develop, deploy, and maintain robust, scalable full-stack software solutions and internal tools, ensuring high quality and reliability.
  • Operational Excellence & Enhancement
    :
    Ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and health of owned systems via effective monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Proactively identify and implement improvements through system optimisation, feature enhancements, and process automation.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration & Partnership
    :
    Work effectively and collaboratively with engineers, product/project managers, designers, and other stakeholders across different teams to gather requirements, align on solutions, manage dependencies, and ensure successful project delivery.
