We are looking for an experienced HR & Payroll Officer to join a well-established education business. The position is office‑based and starts immediately.
Responsibilities- Reporting into the Head of HR and working as part of a team of two, providing HR and payroll support to c200 permanent employees
- HR administration including on‑boarding, off‑boarding, HR systems and HR reporting
- Deal with 1st line HR queries from employees and stakeholders
- Updating and day‑to‑day administration of the HR Management System (Breathe)
- Manage the pre‑employment vetting process
- Advise & support on staffing issues, including disciplinary, grievance, capability etc.
- Provide advice & guidance in relation to absence management issues in line with policies and procedures, and accurately record & monitor staff absence
- Prepare & review job descriptions and recruitment packs
- Enter joiners & end leavers on HR & Payroll Systems
- Manage payroll for c200 permanent employees (using CINTRA), including completeness & accuracy of payroll data across the employee life cycle
- Collate payroll data and information for the outsourced payroll provider in line with agreed time frames
- Review monthly payroll reports for accuracy and completeness, raising any concerns or queries, including pay increases and compliance with National Minimum Wage requirements
- Managing pension schemes and contribution payments, including verify end of year reports for accuracy and submit in line with deadlines
- Completion of payroll and pension related reports
- Updating and sending out HR communications to employees
- Support the business with safeguarding administration, including new starters to the safeguarding training portals, allocate training modules and assisting with inductions
For this role candidates will need to have proven generalist HR experience and have previously supported with monthly payroll. Candidates will ideally have experience working within the education industry and be familiar with safeguarding and vetting processes.
A confident and outgoing approach is required, with excellent communication, administration and numerical skills. Strong IT systems experience is essential, with the ability to prepare key HR and Payroll reports. Experience using Breathe, Cintra or Every HR systems would be a distinct advantage.
