Overview
To provide clerical support to clinical staff based on wards/clinical units, including the receipt and resolution, where possible, of enquiries from patients, visitors and staff. May also function, where necessary, as the ward/clinical unit receptionist. Coordinate patient admissions, monitoring schedules, and discharges.
Responsibilities- Develop, distribute, and analyse patient surveys
- Collect, validate, and input patient data into electronic health records and monitoring systems (Cerner/Tracker)
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all clinical and service data
- Generate performance reports and dashboards to support audits, governance, and service evaluation (NRAP audits)
- Analyse data trends (e.g., readmissions, early supported discharges, hospital avoidance, patient outcomes)
- Order, track, and maintain stock of respiratory monitoring equipment (e.g., oximeters, digital devices)
- Manage allocation of devices to patients and ensure retrieval and refurbishment when no longer required
- Liaise with suppliers and procurement teams to ensure timely equipment availability
- Organise meetings, including booking rooms/virtual platforms
- Provide accurate minute-taking
- Maintain centralised documentation, logs, and records in line with the trust policy
- Support the preparation of SOPs, service leaflets, procedures, and staff training resources (e.g. PNA restorative sessions)
- Ensure all service activity complies with information governance, confidentiality, and data protection regulations
- Provide administrative support during service improvement projects
- Contribute to audits, service reviews, and quality improvement initiatives
- Support day-to-day operational problem-solving
