Veteran Peer Support Worker

The peer role at Op COURAGE is three-fold.

• Empower and support veterans to engage with the support offered, including explaining how NHS care is provided and using a care and support plan.
• Help socially isolated veterans identify personal strengths and connect with the veteran community and other supportive services to foster engagement and independence.
• Contribute to the ongoing co‑production, design and delivery of peer support for service users, including the active service user group and veterans’ drop‑in.

The successful applicant will focus on the day‑to‑day holistic support needs of veterans by planning, promoting and delivering delegated activities to meet goals identified in the individual’s care and support plan. Self‑managed care is essential: the supported person is encouraged to assess their own needs and develop and implement a self‑management plan. Peer support is delivered through empowering choice and providing the opportunity to explore meaning and purpose.

• Must be a veteran of the British Armed Forces.
• Have lived experience of serving in the British Armed Forces and, ideally, have lived experience of accessing NHS and third‑sector services for support connected to military service.

This role is only for British Armed Forces veterans.
