Hours:

37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday). Seven and a half shifts between the hours of 08:00 and 20:30, with participation in weekend rota and occasional night duty required.

Salary:
Competitive, dependent on experience.

• Weekday: 08:00‑16:30, 10:00‑18:30, 12:00‑20:30
• Weekend: 08:00‑17:00, 08:00‑20:30
• Night: 20:30‑08:00

• Expected to work in all sections within the Blood Transfusion department, including day‑to‑day running, validation, document control, stock management, compilation of data for meetings and maintenance record upkeep.
• Speedy and accurate processing of samples.
• Interpretation, validation and timely reporting of results.
• Ensure equipment is in good working order.
• Carry out audits.
• Adhere to Health and Safety policies.
• Follow HCA policies and procedures.

• Accredited BSc.
• HCPC Registration.
• IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma in Transfusion Science.
• IBMS accredited MSc with Transfusion Science education course equivalent to 45 Level 7 CATS points.
• MSc in another Biomedical Science discipline in conjunction with an IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma in Transfusion Science or a Transfusion Science education course equivalent to 45 Level 7 CATS points.
• Transfusion Specialist Portfolio or BBTS Specialist.
• Evidence of continual personal development (CPD).
