About

The Team

The City of London Police Duty Planning team is made up of police officers and police staff. Working alongside the Ops Planning Team, we are responsible for ensuring officer and staff duties and training are accurately recorded on the Force’s Duty Management and training databases, and for resourcing events and frontline roles with appropriately skilled officers.

Our work is varied, encompassing shift pattern creation, system testing, the organisation and allocation of mandatory training and the resourcing of planned and ad hoc events, ensuring critical roles are covered, and that all duties and leave is recorded. It requires the use of a range of databases and systems, including Duties Desktop, DMS, Discoverer, Chronicle and Everbridge, as well as the ability to apply Police Regulations, the Corporation Employee Handbook, the Working Time Directive and Health and Safety legislation, to make the most effective use of resources, while also maintaining a duty of care to officers and staff.

You will use and could become involved with testing a range of systems and databases, in addition to Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You will interact with officers and staff of all ranks and grades, and be required to follow, apply and explain policies, procedures and legislation, so will either have existing knowledge or be willing and able to learn these.
