Role Overview
The post holder will support the Head of Finance (HoF) and Deputy Head of Finance (DHOF) to deliver all aspects of the service area (hospital site, clinical support services or corporate areas) financial management.
He/she will manage a team of accountants to provide day-to-day support in all aspects of the service area's financial performance and business partnering while maintaining an excellent team ethic.
The post holder will be a senior member of the Financial Management and business unit teams, demonstrating expert accounting and business knowledge, analytical support and clear presentation of highly complex or contentious financial and business information to clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
It is expected that the post holder will constructively and positively challenge all aspects of hospital/corporate areas financial and business performance and financial management processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the delivery of accurate and timely monthly performance reports for agreement with the HoF/DHoF for presentation at business unit board meetings and to feed into the Trust position for internal and external corporate reporting.
- Support the reported performance with an analytical review and influence actions based upon findings.
- Oversee the preparation of robust forecasts to be agreed with the HoF/DHoF, supporting the planning and monitoring of mitigating actions.
- Deputise for the Head of Finance or Deputy Head of Finance in their absence, including attendance at business unit Boards, Specialty Boards and Performance Reviews.
- Provide specialist knowledge of reporting, payment by results, reference costs and revenue consequences of capital to assist in the delivery of high quality comprehensive reports.
An enthusiastic and motivated CCAB Qualified Accountant who is self‑motivated, pro‑active and with excellent planning and organisational skills.
