Location: City of Westminster

Working as an Associate Paraplanner in the Paraplanning Centre of Excellence, you will continue to develop your technical knowledge to support the Financial Planner(s) with financial planning solutions for clients. You will be drafting well‑written suitability letters and reports and liaising with Paraplanners and the Client Executives to ensure that all client business is processed correctly and in a timely manner.

Working under supervision, the focus will be on learning how to apply product and technical knowledge to client requirements and becoming fully competent in all paraplanning work.

Responsibilities
  • Research and analysis: conduct research and analysis to identify suitable solutions for our clients, including performing cashflow modelling scenarios.
  • Technical work: draft basic suitability letters and reports for annual reviews and new business, prepare tax calculations and basic financial plans for clients.
  • Client requirements: determine client objectives and priorities, together with understanding client attitudes to risk and loss.
  • Managing documentation: prepare client files for review meetings and maintain these compliantly throughout the client advice journey.
  • Compliance and regulation: work in accordance with the principles and rules of the FCA, demonstrating adherence to the relevant regulations, rules and procedures that apply to your role and conduct of the business.
  • Supporting the team: assist the Client Executive with client matters and queries.
  • Technical knowledge: dedicate time to developing technical and industry knowledge, and meet continuous professional development requirements.

The role of Associate Paraplanner will enable you to develop robust technical knowledge within Paraplanning. Job knowledge will be built through a combination of structured step‑by‑step training, on‑the‑job learning, professional exams and positive, supportive coaching from management and peers.

We are looking for approximately five Associate Paraplanners located at our offices in Manchester, Leeds, London and Worthing. We operate a hybrid working arrangement enabling home and office working, allowing you to balance your personal responsibilities/interests and connect with your colleagues.

The role holder will have experience of working in a client services role within financial planning, and will be eager to develop a career within paraplanning or financial planning. You will be able to demonstrate a good application of basic paraplanning knowledge developed through a combination of role experience and professional study through working towards your Diploma in Financial Planning with a minimum of two R0 exams passed.

Analytical in your approach, you will be data literate and enjoy working with Microsoft Excel and other systems to produce thorough and accurate documentation. You will possess excellent communication and writing skills, enabling you to present well‑structured letters and reports. Methodical and organised, you will take pride in delivering high‑quality, detailed work that meets the needs of our clients and colleagues, always paying close attention to the details.

You will be able to work autonomously in the areas of your expertise and, where appropriate, escalade for support on more complex matters. You will be comfortable taking on new tasks and eager to develop your technical knowledge and skills to become a subject‑matter expert. Possessing a good understanding of financial products, FCA principles and regulatory standards, you will be able to work diligently and carefully in accordance with the relevant regulations, rules and procedures.

A supportive team member, you will be focused on providing a helpful service to your stakeholders. You will be willing to share knowledge and help the Client Executives with complex client matters and queries, ensuring that, as a team, we deliver great client service.
