Head Carpenter – Gabby's Dollhouse Live UK Tour (March‑May 2026)

TEG Live Europe and Life Like Touring are looking to fill the position of Head Carpenter for the upcoming UK Tour of Gabby's Dollhouse Live! Based on Dream Works Animation's hit Netflix series, the live show will rehearse in London March 2‑21, 2026, before touring national venues from March 2 to around May 3, 2026. Candidates should be London based, have local work rights, and be available for all rehearsal and national tour dates from 2 March 2026 up to/around 3 May 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Production Manager, assisting with advancing rehearsal and performance venues.
  • Attendance at rehearsals assisting with set and props.
  • Liaising with venue technical managers to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Confirming technical and staff requirements and ensuring venues have any pre‑rigging or other technical requirements completed prior to arrival.
  • Helping manage the load‑in and load‑out process at each tour venue, managing crew to meet all technical requirements.
  • Managing and directing local carpenters and stagehands.
  • Acting as a key backstage operative for movement/operation of soft goods, scenery, props, audio, lighting, LED wall, and set electrics during each performance.
  • Managing contingency plans for the set and the running of the show and implementing them as required.
  • Ensuring all documentation for the production – technical plots and running sheets – are in place and kept updated.
  • Managing and maintaining touring set, soft goods, props and electrical equipment.
  • Overseeing Health & Safety, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
  • Reporting any issues to Stage Management that need further input.
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a theatre Carpenter with experience in theatrical scenography and rigging on large‑scale productions.
  • Previous experience leading a crew and local technicians.
  • Practical knowledge of operating various stage machinery and construction hand tools.
  • Capable of manual handling tasks, comfortable working at heights, and able to lift 25 kg loads unencumbered.
  • Demonstrated understanding of performance etiquette, theatre traditions, protocol and terminology.
  • High level of skill in interpreting and implementing set plans and technical drawings.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures, risk management and safe work practices.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with creative and technical personnel and performers.
  • Ability to work under pressure, using tact, diplomacy and flexibility.
  • Proof of citizenship or eligibility to work in the UK if requested.
