Building Physics Consultant

City of London | Up to £50k | Hybrid Working

An award-winning sustainable engineering consultancy is looking for a Building Physics Consultant to join its growing London-based team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical delivery with early-stage design influence and wants exposure to a broad mix of project types and sectors.

You'll play a key role in delivering building performance modelling and environmental analysis from concept and planning stages through to design development. Projects range from large residential and education schemes in London, to healthcare master planning and portfolio-led studies, alongside smaller bespoke residential work across the UK. This is a consultancy role with real influence – supporting planning submissions, shaping design decisions, and working closely with architects, engineers and public-sector clients.

Key

responsibilities will include:
  • Building performance modelling using IES-VE
  • Part L compliance modelling and reporting
  • Overheating analysis (TM52 / TM59)
  • Thermal comfort studies and environmental design advice
  • Supporting planning applications and concept-stage strategies
  • Communicating results clearly to design teams and clients
  • Contributing to sustainable design strategies across public and private sector projects
What they're looking for:
  • Solid experience with IES modelling
  • Strong understanding of Part L, overheating and thermal comfort assessment methodologies
  • Awareness of relevant sustainability and planning credits
  • An interest in holistic sustainable design and building performance
  • Experience with heat networks is highly desirable but not essential
Why join?
  • You'll be part of a supportive, collaborative consultancy where your ideas are welcomed and your development is taken seriously.
  • The business offers exposure to concept-stage and planning-led sustainability work.
  • A genuinely varied project portfolio.
  • A culture where initiative and innovation are encouraged.
  • Structured training and support toward professional accreditations.
  • Six‑monthly career reviews with personalised development plans.

This is a great opportunity for a consultant who wants to deepen their technical skills while gaining broader exposure to planning, strategy and early-stage sustainability advisory work in a progressive, people-focused environment.

Whether you're working in the larger corporate companies or a small SME this is certainly one to take note of. Please don't hesitate to apply or get in touch for further info on the email below, we can arrange a confidential conversation anytime to suit you.
