Site Engineer - Multi‑SkilledCity of London
Working Hours:
Split shift - 06:00-15:00 or 09:00-18:00 (Monday to Friday)
Additional Requirement:
Call‑out rota (flexibility required)
We are recruiting a Multi‑Skilled Site Engineer to join an on‑site engineering maintenance team working within a critical commercial environment. Reporting to the Contract Manager, the successful candidate will deliver planned, reactive, and proactive maintenance across the building's infrastructure, ensuring systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.
Due to the nature of the site and business‑critical operations, flexibility is essential, with some maintenance activities required outside of normal working hours.
Key Responsibilities Engineering & Maintenance- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPMs) and reactive maintenance works
- Take ownership of completing all scheduled PPMs within agreed timescales
- Provide multi‑skilled maintenance support across electrical and mechanical disciplines
- Ensure plant, systems, and equipment operate at optimum performance
- Carry out minor installations, upgrades, and modifications as required
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Electrical monitoring and lighting control systems
- Air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs) and HVAC systems
- Domestic water services and cooling towers
- Fire detection, fire alarm, voice alarm and VESDA systems
- Fire suppression and sprinkler systems
- Generators, load banks and associated controls
- UPS systems, batteries, static switches and controls
- Emergency lighting and LV switch gear
- AC/DC single‑phase and three‑phase motors
- Variable speed drives (VSDs)
- Liaise with subcontractors and specialist service providers
- Act as a point of contact for escalations relating to site issues
- Maintain clear and professional communication with site management
- Take responsibility for tools, equipment, and site standards
Ensure all Health & Safety policies and procedures are adhered to
Maintain compliance with relevant legislation and codes of practice
Promote fire safety awareness and safe systems of work
Ensure documented procedures and compliance processes are followed
Complete required health and safety and compliance training
Skills & Experience Essential- Previous experience in commercial building maintenance
- Proven multi‑skilled engineering background (electrical and mechanical)
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
- Experience delivering reactive and planned maintenance
- Experience using CAFM systems (e.g. Concept Evolution / FSI Go)
- Basic financial understanding (e.g. costs, accruals, pro‑rata)
- Supervisory or leadership exposure
- GCSEs or equivalent
- NVQ / City & Guilds Level 3 in Building Services or Engineering Maintenance
- Formal qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Services Engineering
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- L8 Legionella Awareness (including Cooling Towers)
- HV/LV Authorised Person
