Role Overview

Pareto are currently looking for an experienced Technical Services Estimator to manage and quote FM tenders, in line with our growth strategy.

As our Technical Services Estimator, you must have a proven track record in a similar role and have a good understanding of the facilities management sector, with maintenance a focus area. You will support the busy sales team with solutioning and preparing tender pricing returns, completing client bid models and providing data for presentations to support business growth.

The successful Technical Services Estimator will support the business through coding maintenance tasks to SFG
20, to drive an accurate labour load for submission, involving multiple self-delivered and subcontracted service lines. You will need the ability to track and forecast gross margin contributions for new business, support the governance processes within the business and support handover of successful tenders to the operations team and finance.

This is an integral role to support the growth of Pareto, and will be a key part of the commercial management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • End to End management of the estimating process
  • Early understanding of the full tender and submission requirements
  • Compilation of a detailed cost model
  • Supply chain management for obtaining quotes for new business tenders
  • Collaboration with key members of the team to obtain the information required to complete the bid
  • Work with the sales team to develop a clear strategy for each bid
  • Setting out input requirements and agreeing realistic deadlines in line with bid timescales
  • Ensuring all relevant parties are engaged with and kept up to date throughout the process
  • Drive continuous improvement through internal and customer reviews
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years estimation experience, working on tenders up to £10m in value
  • Understanding of asset functions and maintenance requirements
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of bid strategies to drive costing approach
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, particularly engineering and account management
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines and reprioritise workload in line with changing demands
  • The ability to maintain a flexible attitude to work task and workload to ensure tender deadlines are achieved

    Competency in MS Office software, notably Excel
  • Creative thinking
  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong commercial awareness, with previous experience and understanding of SFG

Desirable Skills
  • Relevant engineering qualification (HNC or equivalent)
