About the Project

The successful candidate will be a mechanical and electrical subcontractor on a multi‑million‑pound project in central London, responsible for the delivery of building services engineering (mechanical, electrical, ventilation, specialist systems) while working closely with the client, main contractor and consultants.

Responsibilities
  • Direct the MEP engineering aspects within the project team, ensuring compliance with Mace standards.
  • Accountable for engineering aspects of MEP services and support programme management, health, safety, environment, quality and commissioning.
  • Liaise and coordinate with key stakeholders – client, consultants, trade contractors and other team members.
  • Provide technical support to the tendering process via bid teams and sector leadership.
  • Provide technical input into procurement strategies and ensure specialist packages are procured against agreed scope and budget.
  • Review contracts, scopes, value engineering, schedules and trade contracts, supporting commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Create and deploy project technical plans, including prefabrication, commissioning and safety.
  • Undertake design reviews, checking for compliance, coordination, completeness, embodied carbon and operational energy.
  • Prepare and coordinate the delivery of strategies for all project phases, ensuring milestones, interfaces and dependencies are considered.
  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies in line with Mace commissioning standards.
  • Use digital technologies for productivity assessments and identify key risks.
  • Manage project close‑out, ensuring high‑standard delivery of commissioning, as‑built drawings, O&M manuals and client training.
  • Recommend continuous improvement and provide lessons learned throughout the project.
  • Collaborate toward net zero carbon transition, managing associated carbon emissions and reductions.
Qualifications
  • Trade/Technical apprenticeship or Graduate development programme.
  • Formal Engineering training (HNC, HND, BTEC or equivalent).
  • SMSTS and CSCS card.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering systems, design standards, installation techniques, best practice, prefabrication and system commissioning.
  • Proficient knowledge of construction sequencing, dependencies, planning and commissioning activities.
  • Commercial management proficiency, including procurement, change control, programme impact, risk mitigation and cost forecasting.
  • Comprehensive health, safety and welfare knowledge covering working from height, electrical safety, fire safety, logistics and lifting.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes, system integration (BMS, IST) and full project completion.
Additional Experience
  • Experience delivering projects of £25m+ MEP value.
  • Experience in relevant construction sector.
  • Demonstrated track record of successful projects/contributions.
  • Proficiency in building services or a specified engineering discipline.
  • Strong stakeholder management, presentation and communication skills.
  • Innovative, adaptable and collaborative approach.
