We are seeking an experienced and committed SENDCo to join a specialist secondary provision in Barnet, North London to cover a period of maternity leave starting in June 2026
.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a qualified SEND professional to lead and coordinate provision for pupils aged 11-16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), including students with autism, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and communication difficulties
.

, where staff work closely with pupils and families to ensure that every young person can achieve success and develop the skills they need for the future.
The SENDCo will lead the strategic and operational management of SEND provision across the school during the maternity cover period. Working closely with the senior leadership team, teaching staff and external agencies, you will ensure that all pupils receive the support required to access learning and make meaningful progress.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and coordinating SEND provision across the school
- Overseeing EHCP implementation, reviews and statutory processes
- Monitoring the progress and wellbeing of pupils with SEND
- Supporting staff with inclusive teaching strategies and adaptations
- Liaising effectively with parents, carers, local authorities and external professionals
- Ensuring compliance with SEND legislation and best practice
We are looking for someone who:
- Is qualified
- Holds the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo)
- Has strong experience supporting pupils with complex SEND needs
- Demonstrates excellent organisation, leadership and communication skills
- Is passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people
- Can work collaboratively within a supportive multidisciplinary team
