Overview
An outstanding SEMH School in Greenwich is looking for a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately.
Whether you're a recent graduate, a career changer, or someone with experience in youth work, mentoring, or support roles, this is your chance to make a genuine impact on the lives of young people who need it most.
Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 and small group support, both in and out of class
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Help implement behaviour support plans and therapeutic strategies
- Assist with daily routines and transitions to promote consistency and security
- Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams
- Encourage emotional resilience, self-esteem, and positive social skills
We're seeking compassionate and proactive individuals who can remain calm under pressure and are committed to helping students succeed—both academically and emotionally.
You'll Need- A genuine passion for working with young people with SEMH needs
- Relevant experience working in schools, with SEMH or SEN
- Patience, emotional intelligence, and strong behaviour management skills
- The ability to de-escalate situations and offer positive reinforcement
- Experience working with vulnerable young people (formal or informal) is a plus
- A background in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or care is also highly valued
- Immediate, hands-on experience in a specialist SEMH setting
- Ongoing guidance from a supportive team
- A pathway into careers in education, therapy, psychology, youth work, or social care
