Secondary SEN Teacher - English, Maths or Science

Are you a qualified secondary teacher with a passion for supporting young people with additional needs? We are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Islington who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team on a full‑time, long‑term basis.

This role is to cover long‑term sickness and would suit a teacher confident in delivering English, Maths and/or Science to students with special educational needs, while creating a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in English, Maths or Science
  , tailored to individual learning needs
• Support students with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs
• Adapt the secondary curriculum to ensure accessibility and progress for all learners
• Create a positive, structured classroom environment where students feel safe and motivated
• Monitor and assess progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed
• Work closely with TAs, SENCOs, pastoral teams and external professionals
• Contribute to EHCP targets, reviews and support plans
• Promote inclusion, independence and positive behaviour

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
• Experience teaching English, Maths and/or Science at secondary level
• Experience working with students with SEN (school-based or specialist setting desirable)
• A patient, flexible and resilient approach to teaching
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• A commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing

• The ability to adapt lessons and teaching styles to suit individual needs
• Confidence working collaboratively with support staff and families
• Creativity, empathy and consistency in the classroom
• A calm, positive presence that supports engagement and progress
