Overview
We are seeking an inspiring and skilled violin teacher to join the music department at Lister, a thriving co-educational secondary school in Newham, East London. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to work with enthusiastic young learners and inspire the next generation of musicians. You will teach violin in classroom lessons alongside the classroom teacher, and you will also teach breakout violin groups from these lessons.
There will be opportunities to be involved with extracurricular activities across the department, and to contribute to our concerts and performance events. An ability/willingness to teach a range of musical styles will be an advantage.
- Teach violin in classroom lessons alongside the classroom teacher, and lead breakout violin groups from these lessons.
- Participate in the department’s extracurricular programme, including choir, orchestra, samba group and student-led bands and ensembles.
- Contribute to formal and informal performances throughout the year and support Visiting Music Teachers where possible.
- Be involved with concerts and performance events and support students’ learning and love of music.
- Ability and willingness to teach a range of musical styles.
- Candidate will need to be registered self-employed.
- Payment will be by invoice; hours offered are currently 4 per week (plus 1 hour unpaid lunch) with potential to remain the same or increase.
- £36 per hour. Currently 4 hours (plus 1 hour unpaid lunch) offered between 9:30-14:30 on Fridays.
- Fixed term, Part time, Casual role.
