Long Term Futures are seeking an experienced and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to join a supportive and inclusive school in the Islington area. You will play a strategic and hands‑on role in leading SEND provision across the school, ensuring pupils with additional needs receive high‑quality, personalised support that enables them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified SENCO who is committed to inclusive practice and whole‑school improvement.
YourKey Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the school's SEND provision in line with statutory requirements
- Coordinate the identification, assessment, and support of pupils with SEN
- Develop, implement, and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCPs
- Work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, and support teams
- Liaise with parents/carers, external agencies, and local authorities
- Monitor pupil progress and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN interventions
- Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and safeguarding policies
- Provide guidance, training, and support to staff on inclusive practice
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to work towards it)
- Proven experience in a SENCO or SEN leadership role
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
- Commitment to inclusive education and improving outcomes for pupils with SEN
