About the role
The Education Academy within Barts Health is expanding in response to the increasing number of students and trainees. It aims to improve education by building an Education Fellow faculty base made up of Specialty Teaching Fellows who contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate training and support inter‑professional innovations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop educational opportunities for Obstetrics and Gynaecology through simulation based training, clinical skills, lectures, teaching clinics and bedside teaching.
- Participate in undergraduate medical trainees, foundation trainees and interdisciplinary simulation training programmes.
- Work across Whipps Cross, Newham and Royal London sites with other education fellows.
- Lead or design an education QI project and present work at regional or national meetings.
- Maintain a personal development plan, engage in regular appraisal with clinical supervisor and Simulation Lead.
- ST5‑ST7 O&G registrars (or equivalent) with at least five years of accredited basic obstetrics and gynaecology training.
- Full MRCOG membership.
- Demonstrated interest in medical education and a desire to strengthen teaching, simulation, leadership and curriculum design skills.
- Motivation to pursue a consultant career incorporating education or training roles.
- Experience working in the NHS; GMC and UK NHS clinical experience essential.
- Ability to work a 40‑hour week with a 40% teaching and 60% clinical split.
- A named educational supervisor and mentorship from the education leadership team.
- Access to simulation training, faculty development and a structured development programme (Education Forum).
- Opportunities to undertake a PG Cert in Education or ILM3 Leadership & Management Course with funding support.
- Support to present work at regional or national meetings.
- Funding for continuous professional development.
12‑month fixed‑term contract starting 1 October 2026, 40‑hour week, band 1B, 40% teaching and 60% clinical.
