Are you passionate about supporting learners into careers in the uniformed and public services sector? We are seeking a dedicated Public Services Lecturer to deliver high-quality education and support to learners enrolled on Level 2 and Level 3 Public Services programmes.
You will be part of a well-established team, helping learners develop practical skills, knowledge, confidence and progression pathways into careers such as policing, fire and rescue, emergency services, armed forces, security and other community-facing vocations.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, deliver and assess engaging lessons across Public Services programmes up to Level 3
- Monitor and track learner progress, providing regular feedback and support to help students achieve their goals
- Develop inclusive teaching and learning activities that support learners of varied abilities and backgrounds
- Act as a personal tutor to designated learners, offering academic guidance and pastoral support
- Support student progression into employment, apprenticeships or further study
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessment and achievement in line with college quality standards
- Contribute to curriculum development, programme reviews and quality improvement activities
- Liaise with employers, industry partners and internal teams to enhance learner experience
- Experience teaching or training learners (FE, 16+) or significant industry experience relevant to public services
- Strong knowledge of public services careers, curriculum content and assessment approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate learners
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload effectively
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team in a further education environment
- Commitment to supporting learner attainment, retention and progression
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Public Services, Criminology, Social Policy, or related subject
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, Cert Ed, Level 5 Diploma) is desirable but not essential if substantial relevant experience
- Maths and English qualifications at GCSE (or equivalent)
- DBS on update service is essential
- Competitive hourly / part-time rate (dependent on experience)
