Prospero Teaching is seeking patient, resilient, and relationship‑focused SEN Teaching Buddies to join a specialist school in Totton. The school supports pupils in Key Stages 3 and 4 who present with a range of additional needs, including autism, complex needs, attachment disorder, and a phobia of education.
This unique setting provides pupils with access to a school farm, a dedicated outdoor learning centre, and a practical construction hub, enabling young people to re‑engage with learning through therapeutic, hands‑on, and experiential activities.
This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils who benefit from consistent, personalised, and emotionally attuned support.
Key Responsibilities- Providing tailored support to pupils with autism, complex needs, attachment difficulties, or barriers to education
- Supporting young people who may experience anxiety, sensory needs, communication challenges, or emotional dysregulation
- Encouraging engagement through creative, therapeutic, outdoor, and practical learning activities
- Promoting emotional wellbeing, safety, and positive behaviour throughout the school day
- Supporting pupils with routines, communication, emotional regulation, and developing independence
- Building trusting, stable relationships using clear, calm, and consistent communication
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral staff to ensure holistic support

Full‑time, with temp‑to‑perm pathways available - Working Hours:
08:30 - 15:30 - Pay Rate:
From £13.96 per hour
- Have the Right to Work in the UK
- Hold an enhanced child‑barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)
- Provide professional references covering the last 24 months
- Hold a Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education, health & social care, or have relevant SEN experience
- Free accredited CPD, including safeguarding, behaviour management, and de‑escalation
- Access to our specialist in‑house Training & Development Team
- Ongoing support from a dedicated SEN consultant
