Position: Group Mental Health Advisor (Targeted interventions)

The Role

The College is seeking an experienced Mental Health Adviser to provide support to students in both 1:1 and group settings.

If so, we are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join our Mental Health & Wellbeing team of Counsellors and Mental Health Advisers. This is an opportunity to join the team in an exciting stage of its development. We were named as a Commended College in the 2023 AoC Beacon Awards for our work in mental health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work face-to-face with a caseload of students.
  • Triage clients to the appropriate service, ensuring the safeguarding of all learners.
  • Provide short‑term mental health advice to individual learners to support their wellbeing and success in their studies.
  • Provide drops‑in and focused group work.
  • Develop and coordinate Resilience and Exam Anxiety campaigns at key times (October, January and April) for all learners/campuses.
  • Provide updates and training to staff, parents and other professionals to keep all parties up to date with key information.
  • Be based at our Havering Sixth Form campus 2 days per week, and across the group for 3 days per week; travel costs between campuses will be reimbursed.
Who You Are
  • Educated to degree level and holding recognised professional qualifications and experience.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills.
  • Have significant experience of offering mental health interventions and providing confidential services.
  • Have experience working with individuals from different cultures, disabilities, sexual orientations and ages, preferably within an education setting.
  • Be resilient and confident to work autonomously.
