Examiner - GCE A Level - Religious Studies (2016 Specification)

A GCE Religious Studies (2016 Specification) Examiner will mark candidates’ responses in accordance with the pre‑defined mark scheme, whilst adhering to conditions of recognition and examination procedures. Most subjects will be marked on‑screen using ePEN, which can be done from home. A few subjects are still marked in the traditional method, using paper scripts sent through the post. A high level of subject knowledge is necessary to apply the mark scheme.

Each examiner will receive an agreed allocation of scripts.

• Mark accurately and consistently to ensure overall standards are maintained.
• Submit samples to your Team Leader at designated times.
• Ensure milestones for marking are adhered to.
• Ensure all administration is completed as specified.

• Degree or equivalent.
• Qualified teacher.

You will need to have at least one year's full‑time teaching experience in the relevant subject, in the last eight years.

• 9RS0/02 (Religion and Ethics)
• 9RS0/03 (New Testament Studies)
• 9RS0/4B (Christianity)
• 9RS0/4D (Islam)

Applicants must clearly evidence the subject areas they have experience with in the Work Experience section of the application form. Experience highlighting only general GCE Religious Studies teaching is not accepted.

• Work well under pressure.
• Meet deadlines.
• Have a high level of subject knowledge to apply the mark scheme.

• The marking period is between May and July.
• Training required to mark as an examiner will take place between May and June.
