SEMH Teaching Assistant
Remedy Education is seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant for an SEMH School based in Lambeth. The school is looking for a dynamic SEMH Qualified Teaching Assistant to work with a small Key Stage 3/4 class with no more than 9 children. All pupils are statemented with challenging behaviour and other additional needs. The school are looking for a strong PRU/SEN TA who has experience of working with children with challenging behaviour.
The position is long term and full time for the right teaching assistant. There is minimal planning and marking involved with this role.
- Support a small KS3/KS4 class (up to 9 pupils) with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
- Provide consistent, nurturing support to help pupils engage with learning and develop social and emotional understanding.
- Assist with classroom management and routines to maintain a productive learning environment.
- Support pupil behaviour plans and liaise with other staff to implement strategies.
- Be a Qualified PRU TA, Level 3 qualified (or equivalent).
- Be Team Teach Trained.
- Have experience of teaching in a PRU or SEMH school.
- Have excellent behaviour management skills.
- Have the ability to build rapport with young people.
- Have an understanding and empathy for social and emotional needs.
- Have recent experience within the last 2 years.
