We are looking for a part‑time, fixed‑term Associate Lecturer to teach postgraduate modules on sustainability in the food and beverage industry at the Birkbeck Business School. The role commences in January 2026 and runs until August 2026.

You will deliver excellent teaching in the sustainability area at postgraduate level for the MSc Culinary Innovation Management programme in partnership with Le Cordon Bleu, London. This includes:
- Teaching the module “Sustainability in the Food and Beverage Industry” – Wednesday 6–7.30 pm, 9 weeks, 13.5 hours total (January–August 2026).
- Developing and updating module content and materials to create a stimulating learning environment.
- Setting, marking and moderating student assessment, and providing constructive feedback in line with quality assurance procedures.
- Supporting a diverse student cohort in both in‑person and online formats.
- Collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development and teaching quality improvement.
- Postgraduate award in sustainability and/or substantial knowledge of sustainability issues in the food and beverage industry.
- Understanding of sustainability principles and emerging trends and their application to food and beverage businesses.
- Knowledge of tools available to help businesses meet sustainability goals.
- Demonstrable track record of engaging postgraduate teaching in relevant topics.
- Experience in planning and developing module objectives and learning materials.
- Effective teaching record in both in‑person and online settings, with proven student support and engagement.
Payment is based on an hourly rate of £69.68, calculated at a 2.5 multiplier for teaching duties including preparation, delivery, assessment and administrative tasks. Rates rise with longer continuous service with the College.
ContractFixed‑term part‑time contract: 14 January – 31 August 2026, 8 months. Interview date is Wednesday 5 November 2025.
