Overview
Are you a passionate and driven colorectal surgeon looking to elevate your expertise in complex Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) surgery? UCLH invites you to join our world-class Gastrointestinal Services Division as a Senior Clinical Fellow in IBD Surgery — a unique 12 months post-ST6+ Registrar designed to provide immersive, advanced training at one of the UK's leading tertiary referral centres.
What Will You Gain- Master advanced IBD surgical procedures including re-operative Crohn's resections, ileal pouch surgery, laparoscopic panproctocolectomy, intersphincteric dissection, and complex perianal Crohn's disease operations.
- Develop expertise in IBD-specific endoscopic techniques.
- Manage perioperative and long-term care of complex IBD patients.
- Play a key role in multidisciplinary IBD team meetings, collaborating with gastroenterologists, radiologists, pathologists, and nutrition specialists.
- Participate in dedicated IBD outpatient clinics, inpatient management, and joint surgical clinics including transition and paediatric IBD services.
- Complete an operative logbook featuring 80-100 major resections as primary or supervised operator.
- Engage in quality improvement projects and cutting-edge clinical research with support for publication and conference attendance.
- Contribute to the teaching and training of junior colleagues and allied health professionals.
- We welcome applicants who are ST6+ with experience in General Surgery with a colorectal subspecialty or equivalent experience, and who hold full GMC registration by April 2026.
- You should demonstrate advanced laparoscopic skills, strong communication abilities, and an enthusiasm for multidisciplinary collaboration and teaching.
- An academic interest in IBD with research experience is highly desirable.
