Position: Senior Clinical Fellow (ST4+) - Paediatric Infectious Diseases
Location: City Of London

Overview

12 month fixed term Clinical Fellow in Paediatric Infectious Diseases - This is a full time post providing Registrar level cover for the department.

The successful applicant will be expected to carry out all duties of a Paediatric Infectious Diseases (PID) Registrar, participating in all the activities of the PID Unit.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in all activities of the PID Unit, providing Registrar level cover as a PID fellow.
  • Inpatient and outpatient involvement through the PID Unit:
    St George's Hospital provides the in-patient service for PID with a dedicated ward (Pinckney ward) and other inpatient paediatric services for infectious or immunological concerns.
  • Contribute to the PID clinic and specialised clinics in HIV, TB, congenital infections, immunodeficiencies, vaccinology and fungal infections.
  • Engage in extensive outreach PID support to District General Hospitals within South West London and Surrey as a consult/advice service.
  • Contribute to antimicrobial stewardship services and Paediatric Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (pOPAT) provision.
  • Collaborate with the Microbiology team, participate in dedicated multidisciplinary teams, and work with the Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Radiology and colleagues at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
  • Participate in governance activities and research foundations, including audits and service improvement projects to strengthen research profile; link with the Centre for Neonatal and Paediatric Infection (CNPI) at SGUL.
