Overview
LUC is seeking a passionate and ambitious Senior Landscape Architect to join our friendly, award-winning Design Team in London. This opportunity is based within and supported by our existing landscape design teams with the potential to collaborate with colleagues in other disciplines, such as ecologists, landscape managers, planners, and more. The role offers a diverse portfolio of projects across multidisciplinary teams, with current projects including championship sports venues, housing master plans, historic parks and gardens, university campus projects, town centre public realm enhancements, and urban parks and coastal regeneration projects.
Examples of previous work include the Wimbledon Championships masterplan, Rochester Riverside, the Eden Project, University of Glasgow Public Realm Project, Tumbling Bay Park at the London Olympic Park, and the Princess Diana Memorial Playground.
- Deliver drawing packages and design reports for a range of sites at all design stages from inception through to construction.
- Work with a London-based focus on projects in London and the southeast, with potential involvement in teams across the UK.
- Support the wider design team on larger projects or manage smaller projects under the guidance of more senior colleagues, across a range of sectors with a focus on development sites including residential schemes.
- Carry out site visits.
- Attend community consultation events.
- Review landscape works progressing on construction sites.
- Attend relevant external project-based meetings with clients and external design teams.
- Plan stage and technical drawing production using AutoCAD and Revit-based software.
- Prepare design reports including written elements and diagrams, using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Produce planting plans and technical details; LUC uses KeySCAPE for planting plans, with training provided to the successful candidate.
- Participate in team CPD and general training.
- Engage in project management activities, including completing timesheets, managing time on tasks against project budgets, and maintaining awareness of project fees and scope.
- Manage junior consultants to support design tasks.
The role includes the opportunity to share in the management and ownership of the business through the Employee Ownership Trust, which places full ownership of the company with the employees. The role is based in LUC’s London office with a hybrid model requiring a minimum of two days in the office per week. Some travel to visit sites, client offices, and other locations may be required.
Hours,Flexibility and Salary
A full-time role is based on 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). LUC supports flexible working and can accommodate options including part-time hours (minimum 30 hours per week) if desired. Salary: £32,500 - £39,000 FTE, dependent on experience (Plus London Allowance).
Experience and Qualifications- Educated with a relevant Landscape Architecture qualification at degree or postgraduate level, or an equivalent blend of knowledge and qualifications.
- Relevant experience in a landscape design practice, including preparing design drawings, writing reports, and engaging with clients and external design teams.
- Chartered member of the Landscape Institute or working toward it (LUC can provide mentor support).
- Experience on development projects including the residential sector.
- Enthusiasm and willingness to take on new project challenges; more experienced candidates will demonstrate a range of challenging cross-sector work.
- Willingness to travel around the UK and visit sites (travel costs covered by LUC).
- Excellent visual communication skills including proficiency with the full Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficiency with drawing software including AutoCAD.
- Understanding of BIM standards and ability to use Revit; competent written and text editing skills.
- Strong hand drawing skills.
- Experience with consultation and engagement.
- Experience creating compelling 3D rendered visuals.
- Ability to prepare NBS specifications.
- UK Driving Licence.
