As a Building Control Surveyor you can make your own powerful contribution to the quality of our diverse residential and commercial built environment. In Westminster, we have the highest proportion of properties subject to the new Building Safety Bill in the country. The spotlight is on us as a local authority, offering real challenge and the chance to build career-defining experience.
Joining a team of expert professionals, including in-house Fire Engineers and Building Regulations Engineers, you’ll have every opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge on a range of high-profile projects. Providing technical advice and guidance on building control issues to colleagues, partner agencies and the wider public, you’ll also process complex applications under building regulations and carry out a range of inspections.
We’ll have high expectations of your professionalism but will also provide excellent support.
With significant experience in building control (fire and structures) you’ll have a comprehensive knowledge of the building regulations, including those which relate to large and complex projects. Holding full professional membership of RICS, CABE, ICE, IStruct
E, CIOB or a similar approved organisation, you’ll be used to negotiating with design teams and major stakeholders to achieve compliance. You must be licenced with the BSR at Class 2A-2F. You’ll communicate clearly and be ready to solve a range of problems. The ability to work under pressure to deliver results is essential.
