Economic Insight Manager Role Profile

The Economics Insights Manager will play a central role in delivering high-quality economic analysis, research, and thought leadership that enhances ICAEW's reputation as a trusted voice on financial, business, and economic matters and helps it achieve its ambition within its new strategy Direction 2030 to lead conversations on issues that matter for the profession and business. Working closely with the Chief Economist, the postholder will generate insights that support members, inform public debate, and underpin policy engagement with government, regulators, and other stakeholders.

Insight Manager Responsibilities
  • Produce high-quality economic research and commentary on UK and global macroeconomic trends, fiscal events, and sector-specific developments relevant to the accountancy profession.
  • Develop and deliver economic insights tailored to the needs of ICAEW's diverse membership base, including practitioners, business leaders, and public sector professionals.
  • Provide economic evidence and analysis to support ICAEW's policy positions and public affairs engagement.
  • Manage commissioned research projects with external partners, think tanks, and academics to generate original insights on key themes (e.g., productivity, sustainability, investment, technological adoption).
  • Draft clear and impactful commentary for ICAEW publications, media engagement, and digital platforms.
Economic Insight Manager Candidate Profile Requirements
  • Extensive background in economics, with experience in applied economic analysis, research, or forecasting (e.g., from government, financial services, consultancy, or professional bodies).
  • Proven ability to interpret and explain complex economic issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience producing economic commentary, reports, or publications for external audiences.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, including proficiency with economic data and analytical tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence presenting to senior stakeholders and external audiences.
