Overview

The Client Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial management of income and expenditure, assisting in the production of client reports, and ensuring accurate financial record-keeping. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the financial integrity of client accounts and facilitating effective communication within the client accounting team.

Responsibilities
  • Support the raising of service charges and rental income, including turnover calculations and rent deposit maintenance.
  • Manage accounting for other income (insurance, interest on late payments) and maintain reconciliations.
  • Produce completion statements for property sales and lease terminations.
  • Process tenant drawdowns/refunds as instructed by surveyors.
  • Liaise with site staff to ensure service charge expenditure accuracy and report variances.
  • Maintain accounting records for expenditure recoverable from tenants.
  • Assist with regular client reports and ad hoc reporting to surveyors and solicitors.
  • Support statutory and regulatory reporting to HMRC and RICS.
  • Collaborate with the wider client accounting team to manage workload effectively.
  • Build strong working relationships and attend regular meetings to resolve issues.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience of basic accounting/bookkeeping.
  • Minimum GCSE level education (Maths and English at grade C or above).
  • Good computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task, and prioritize effectively.
  • Organised with attention to detail and able to meet tight deadlines.
