Registered Manager - Care Home (Elderly & Dementia)
- Flitwick, Bedfordshire
- £50,000 - £55,000 per annum
- 40 hours per week
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Manager to lead a brand new 72‑bed care home specialising in elderly and dementia care in Flitwick, Bedfordshire. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the mobilisation and commissioning of a new service, with the home aiming to welcome its first residents in April. You will be supported by a strong management structure including a Deputy Manager, two Team Leaders, and an Administrator.
Experience in commissioning a new care home will be a significant advantage.
The RoleAs Registered Manager, you will have full responsibility for the leadership, operational performance, and regulatory compliance of the service. You will be instrumental in shaping the culture, standards, and success of the home from its very beginning.
Key responsibilities- Leading the commissioning and mobilisation of a brand new care home
- Ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred care for elderly residents, including those living with dementia
- Recruiting, developing, and inspiring a high‑performing team
- Working closely with the local authority and external stakeholders
- Ensuring full compliance with CQC regulations and preparing the service for inspection
- Managing budgets, resources, and operational performance
- Acting as a positive, visible, and hands‑on leader within the home
- Level 5 Diploma (or above) in Health & Social Care
- A seasoned care home manager with experience in elderly and/or dementia care
- Proven experience in commissioning new care homes and a strong understanding of the end‑to‑end process
- Experience working with or for a local authority, with sensitivity to political and strategic considerations
- A hands‑on leadership style, willing to roll up sleeves and support the team on the floor when needed
- A positive role model who is passionate about coaching, mentoring, and developing staff
- Strong experience in CQC preparation, inspections, and working with PAMMS and CQC inspectors/monitoring officers
- Experience collaborating with leaders across multiple disciplines
- An expert multi‑tasker with confident, decisive decision‑making skills
