POSITION SUMMARY

Provides services to clients in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act, Agency policy, and accepted professional standards of practice. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing services utilizing a comprehensive base of nursing theory under the direction of a medically approved care plan.

Reports to:

Clinical Supervisor

Provides supervision to: NA – No supervision responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.
Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of operation.
Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Current CPR certification.
Licensed driver with automobile insured in accordance with state and/or Agency requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Assume responsibility and accountability for the practice of professional nursing in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and standards for home health nursing.

Perform physical assessments of clients; may complete comprehensive assessments for client admissions and reassessments at the discretion of the Clinical Supervisor.

Supervise Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) and/or Home Health Aides (HHAs) at the discretion of the Clinical Supervisor.

Report changes in client condition promptly to the medical practitioner overseeing care as well as to other members of the client’s care team.

Participate in the development of the client care plan.

Consistently demonstrate competency with technical nursing skills according to personal and legal scope of practice.

Practice nursing with respect for individual, cultural, and spiritual differences.

Follow Agency policies and procedures as well as payor and accreditation requirements.

Initiate actions to improve the quality of client care and to prevent negative client outcomes; continually promote safety and infection prevention and control practices.

Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Participate in ongoing, professional self-development.

Delegate tasks to Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses (LPN/LVNs) and/or Home Health Aides (HHAs) based on their legal scope of practice and where circumstances require.

Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
