Shift: 12 hour night shift
Key Job Responsibilities
- Utilizes the nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, nursing care plans, implementing interventions, and evaluating patient status.
- Manages personalized care for patients by promoting and restoring health; collaborates with providers and multidisciplinary team members; provides physical and psychological support to patients and support persons.
- Executes regimen prescribed by the provider within nursing practice guidelines and delivers care that is age‑appropriate and culturally specific.
- Provides education on medication, procedures, and plan of care during hospitalization and after discharge.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient‑related matters, caring in a non‑judgmental, non‑discriminatory manner sensitive to patient diversity, preserving autonomy, dignity, and rights.
- Performs and/or supervises activities/functions that require knowledge and skill level currently ascribed to the registered nurse, seeking assistance when duties exceed scope of practice.
- Provides leadership and direction in supervising others in carrying out the nursing process.
- Maintains current competencies by attending educational workshops and participating in departmental projects for process improvement.
- Performs all duties with the highest level of safety and other duties as assigned by management.
Education:
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure:
Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) from the State of Iowa.
- Knowledgeable regarding the nursing process and its application.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English; skilled in post‑operative care of infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
- Obtains nursing continuing education units appropriate to clinical assignment; maintains BCLS certification at the health‑care provider level.
- Ability to function effectively during emergencies, in crises, and while under stress.
- ACLS and PALS certification recommended.
