Join the Mercy One Family! We are looking to hire a PRN Registered Nurse in our Med/Surg department.

Commitment levels:

• Level 1: 2 shifts (24 hours) per 6‑week schedule
• Level 2: 4 shifts (48 hours) per 6‑week schedule
• Level 3: 8 shifts (96 hours) per 6‑week schedule

• Administers nursing care to patients; includes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s care plan in coordination with the physician.
• Provides patient/family or caregiver education and counselling in recognition and solution of physical, emotional and environmental health problems.
• Supervises health‑care members (e.g., patient‑care technicians) with patients.
• Utilises computer applications and communication technologies appropriate to the work setting to enter, retrieve and analyse information and to facilitate communication and education.
• Maintains knowledge of documentation requirements needed for patients’ records.
• Works independently with limited direct supervision using the Nurse Practice Act, Mercy Medical Center policies, nursing standards and professional judgement.
• Maintains knowledge of equipment set‑up, maintenance and use (e.g., IV pumps, monitoring equipment, drainage devices). Uses safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms whenever available to maximise patient safety.
• Works rotating shifts, weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Nursing experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Current licence as a Registered Nurse from the State of Iowa required.
