General pay scale for this position at MOH: $89,470.81 – $ per year. The actual hiring rate depends on experience, education, responsibilities, location, and performance.
ResponsibilitiesThe Advanced Practice Provider will play a key role in:
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for oncology and hereditary risk patients.
- Initiating and documenting appropriate interventions; prescribing therapies as indicated.
- Performing procedures with minimal supervision.
- Providing education and wellness resources to patients and families.
- Incorporating evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
- Ensuring timely documentation and charge capture.
- Participating in case management, palliative care, and staff education.
- Mentoring new APPs and precepting students.
- Conducting genetic risk assessments for patients with personal or family history of cancer.
- Providing counseling on inheritance patterns, testing options, and implications for care.
- Interpreting genetic test results and communicating findings to patients and care teams.
- Developing individualized surveillance and risk‑reduction plans for high‑risk breast patients; monitoring patients longitudinally.
- Participating in continuing education such as tumor boards, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives related to genetics and high‑risk care.
- Maintaining current knowledge of genetic guidelines (e.g., NCCN, ACMG) and integrating evidence‑based genetics into practice.
- Supporting clinical research related to cancer genetics and hereditary syndromes.
- MSN from an accredited nursing school; completion of NP program.
- RN licensure and NP certification in Maryland.
- Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably in oncology or genetics.
- AOCNP preferred.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Completion of accredited PA program.
- NCCPA certification and Maryland PA license.
- Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably in oncology or genetics.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
Candidate will be required to complete genetics‑focused training, as determined by MOH, within 24 months of hire (if not previously completed).
Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentRequires full range of motion, manual dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination. Standing and walking for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 40 lbs. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other oncology clinic conditions. Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
