General PurposeThe Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. The associate greets customers with eye contact, smiles and friendly greetings, treats fellow associates with respect, follows company best‑practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The associate is expected to perform a range of functions in all store areas as business needs require, and may be requested to perform additional tasks to support customer service and operational goals.
EssentialFunctions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviours in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment, keeps egress clear, and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy, recognizes fellow associates using the company recognition programs.
- Assists customers in any manner necessary – registered‑trained, helps with merchandise, answers questions politely and knowledgeably.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to customers, handles customer issues courteously; calls Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, replenishing restroom supplies, disinfecting high‑touch areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the company’s dress code.
- Performs daily assigned sizing and recovery per company best practice, expedites merchandise receipts to the sales floor, and merchandises per monthly presentation guidelines.
- Understands loss prevention programs, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist position, and merchandise protection standards.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty, safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follows all MOS policies, cash, check, credit, and refund procedures, and maintains accuracy with bankable tenders.
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency to efficiently perform their role and maximises productivity by following store best practices.

- The ability to communicate with customers, associates and store leadership in a friendly, respectful, and cooperative manner.
- Basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC. Ability to spend up to 100 % of working time standing, walking and moving around the store. Ability to regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Occasional push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs. Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies. Associates working Stockroom shifts must regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 lbs.
