Project Manager, Operations Manager

Boom Supersonic’s mission is to make the world dramatically more accessible through a renaissance in supersonic flight. Boom is developing the Symphony supersonic engine, which powers the Overture supersonic airliner and the Superpower natural gas turbine for AI. Overture will fly at twice the speed of today’s subsonic jets over water and 50% faster over land with Boomless Cruise.

We’re hiring a Project Manager to support team execution and program accountability on Superpower. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing complex schedules and budgets, and reporting progress on critical technical milestones. This is a pivotal position for a project manager who can turn ambitious plans into on-time, on-budget realities with the team.

As a Project Manager at Boom, you will:

• Manage the Superpower program's integrated master schedule (IMS), including inputs, impacts, and risk capture for timely escalation and reporting.
• Manage, track, and report program budgets, including forecasting variances, allocating resources, and ensuring cost alignment with milestones.
• Support translating technical goals into executable plans and work breakdown structures, bridging vision to delivery without gaps.
• Interface with internal teams, external partners, and suppliers to drive accountability and alignment throughout the development lifecycle.
• Provide visibility into complex projects by deploying controls, metrics, and dashboards to inform decisions and surface risks early.
• Champion clear communication across levels, from motivating technical teams to briefing executives.
• Navigate ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving requirements with confidence and poise.
• Foster a culture of ownership, speed, and continuous improvement to accelerate team performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify dependencies, resolve conflicts, and ensure project alignment.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Systems, or a technical discipline
• Proven success managing multi-disciplinary projects in design, test, and production environments
• Fluency in program tools and processes—schedule development, earned value, risk management, stakeholder alignment, and change control
• Strong systems thinker who can operate at both strategic and detailed levels
• Excellent communicator and collaborator—able to influence across technical and non-technical teams
• Experience working with hardware-software interfaces, regulatory frameworks, and fast-moving development cycles

• Proven success leading high-stakes cross functional projects, ensuring alignment, delivery, and accountability across teams
• Startup or growth-stage aerospace experience—you know how to build structure in fast-moving, resource-constrained environments
• Bias for action—you prioritize decisively, move quickly, and keep teams focused on forward progress
• Executive presence and clarity under pressure—you bring focus, composure, and crisp communication when it matters most
• Strong technical fluency—you understand engineering and certification constraints and turn them into clear, actionable plans
• Natural leader—people want to follow you because you lead with integrity, earn trust quickly, and influence without formal authority
• Willing to roll up your sleeves—no task is beneath you when the mission is on the line
• Brings energy, optimism, and a contagious sense of fun—you make the work lighter and the team stronger

• P2 Level - Typically 2-5 years of experience - Base salary range $89,
• P3 Level - Typically 5 - 10 years of experience - Base salary range: $120,000 – $151,000

Actual compensation will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Boom’s total rewards package. Other elements may include long-term incentives/equity, flexible PTO, and a suite of progressive benefits designed to support our employees’ well-being and growth.
