Job Description & How to Apply Below

Colorado Public Radio (CPR) is seeking a Radio Host / Producer for CPR Classical.

About the Position

CPR’s Classical Host / Producer hosts regular weekly air-shifts, including on-air fill-in shows. You’ll announce and produce content in a way that is listener-focused, engaging, personable, timely, and topical about classical music and local cultural connections. The CPR Classical Host / Producer delivers quality public radio through curating classical music, stories and produced content. You will regularly create content for broadcast and digital (e.g., fundraising, web, production and participating in live on‑air fundraising).

The new hire is expected to reside in the greater Denver metro area upon starting - this is not a remote position. However, a hybrid schedule is available that requires a minimum of 3 days in the office each week.

About You

You have a general knowledge about classical music, with a curiosity that drives you to keep discovering more. You stay current on classical music news, events, and issues, and you’re recognized for your storytelling, communication skills, and engaging presence. You are familiar with producing audio and digital content. You have a great ability to articulate what is distinctive about your personal insights on music.

Adaptable and open to new ideas, you adjust to changing needs while staying results-focused, organized, and committed to high standards. You’re also a thoughtful listener who values collaboration and problem‑solving.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in audio content creation, such as using one’s voice to connect with an audience (audio, video, public-facing performances or live-audience engagement).
  • Knowledge of classical music and composers.
  • Experience with music curation, connecting playlists and themes.
  • Ability to deliver memorable and succinct stories (both verbally and for web articles).
  • Ability to communicate clearly, articulate thoughts effectively and engage with listeners.
  • General PC computer competency and experience with audio and video editing software.
Education Equivalency
  • A fully relatable bachelor’s or master’s degree may replace some of the required years of experience needed to qualify for the position, but is not required for the role.

Even if you don’t meet every qualification listed, we’re interested in candidates who can bring unique skills, perspectives, and experiences to the role. At Colorado Public Radio, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, equitable and authentic workplace. If you're excited about this role, but your past experience doesn't perfectly align with every qualification in the job posting, we encourage you to apply as you may be the right candidate for this or other roles with us.

Colorado Public Radio is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package that reflects our culture of caring.
