Cruise Line – Network Engineer

This role is on the Disney Cruise Line team, which delivers shipboard guest and crew systems, commercial platforms, web and app experiences, and infrastructure operations that support seamless journeys  Network Engineer will report to the Senior Manager, Technology.

About

The Role & Team

The Disney Cruise Line Network Team is responsible for designing, configuring, deploying and operating/managing all network devices in the Disney Cruise Line realm, including ships at sea, private islands, home ports, and technology labs.

What You’ll Do
  • Operate a complete and complex framework, system, or product (i.e. datacenter and distribution LAN switches, WAN routers, wireless controllers/access points, firewalls, network security platforms, load balancers).
  • Apply team and organization‑defined standards for technical platforms, system specifications, security parameters, and configuration frameworks for hardware and/or software compatibility.
  • Request actions and resolve incident tickets with guidance from senior network engineers.
  • Execute and adapt automation processes to reduce workload toil.
  • Participate in team objectives for capital and expense project initiatives.
  • Provide technical assistance to partner teams in the completion of complex organizational‑level projects.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies.
  • Travel as required (approximately 30‑40% of the time) to DCL shipyards, dry docks, and islands to provide support.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience in an enterprise‑level organization.
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment with dynamic prioritization of efforts.
  • Hands‑on operation of standard networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and load balancers.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, best practices, and ISE appliances and dot1x principals.
  • Proficient at troubleshooting network issues, taking a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • Assists in developing deployment centralization of devices across a diverse on‑premise architecture requiring an air‑gapped methodology.
  • Proficient in problem solving day‑to‑day and broader scope issues with a proactive demeanor toward continuous learning, skill development, and interest in mastering emerging data engineering tools and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands‑on experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus LAN platforms, Cisco Wireless LAN controllers, Palo Alto Firewalls, Broadcom AVI Load Balancers, F5 Networks Load Balancers, Cisco SD‑WAN platform, Cisco Security and Management appliances (DNAC, ISE).
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Education
  • Cisco, Palo Alto certifications a plus with a concentration on Enterprise Datacenter, Routing/Switching, Troubleshooting, Wireless LAN, Firewall Management.
