About

The Role & Team

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Administrator to join a team responsible for maintaining the operational efficiency and reliability of both our shipboard and shoreside systems and services. In this role, you will work at the intersection of technology, guest experience, and operational excellence, ensuring that we continuously minimize downtime and optimize the performance of our infrastructure. You will also drive the seamless integration of advanced technologies in the cruise industry, aligning them with business needs and enhancing customer experiences.

This position requires a proven and experienced engineer in Automic or alternative job scheduling solutions (such as JAMS), with expertise in on‑premise and cloud infrastructure, Windows Server, and Linux (RHEL). The ideal candidate will have strong skills in Power Shell, Linux bash scripting, and an automation‑first mindset to streamline processes wherever possible. A solid understanding of OS‑level concepts and high‑level infrastructure architecture is essential.

The Systems Engineer will work closely with application teams to create, modify, refactor, and document Automic workflows across ships and shoreside environments. Our environment includes approximately 10 Automic instances and over 400 workflows. Responsibilities include reviewing workflows for consistency, resilience, and performance, migrating workflows from on‑prem to cloud‑based instances, provisioning new workflows, and supporting integration with Service Now and monitoring expansion.

Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, evaluate, test, debug, and implement Automic workflows supporting critical business processes.
  • Review and optimize workflows for performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Support migration of workflows from deprecated on‑prem instances to cloud platforms.
  • Develop automation scripts using Power Shell and bash to improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with teams to integrate workflows with Service Now and expand monitoring capabilities.
  • Document processes and workflows thoroughly for consistency and compliance.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in job scheduling and automation.
Skills Required
  • Minimum 5 years experience supporting Automic Automation Engine or other enterprise job scheduling tools (e.g., JAMS) in an enterprise environment.
  • Minimum 5 years background in IT, computer systems engineering, or systems engineering and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) operating systems.
  • Understanding of OS‑level concepts and high‑level infrastructure architecture.
  • Self‑starter with ability to take initiative and balance multiple priorities with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and design skills, both verbal and written.
  • Familiarity with Service Now, Jira, or other ticketing tools.
  • Familiarity with Confluence (or other documentation/wikis).
  • Ability to diagnose simple to complex system and process problems.
  • Demonstrated exceptional troubleshooting methodology, including the ability to communicate complex problems to all levels of technical skillsets.
  • Automation mindset—always looking for opportunities to automate processes where possible.
Preferred Skills
  • Prior maritime experience from a technology perspective.
  • Experience in user management via Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of enterprise monitoring solutions.
  • Background in large‑scale environments with multiple Automic instances.
  • Terraform, AWX, Vault, Ansible.
