Responsibilities
  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance.
  • Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer tools when applicable.
  • Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Replaces defective components as instructed.
  • Works unsupervised on most tasks and performs facility maintenance duties.
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the issue once assigned a task.
  • Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal/provincial and corporate guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
  • Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
  • Accesses and uses maintenance documents internally and externally.
  • Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support).
  • Complete OEM diagnostic tool software courses as required by location fleet mix.
  • 5 optional or location-specific tasks as applicable.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or Technical Certification or Post-secondary degree; technical certifications preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).
  • Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required.
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
  • All other certifications as required by location; CDL Class A preferred.
  • Must have minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire; pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background/motor vehicle checks from previous 3 years.
  • Possess or obtain required certifications as per location.
Benefits & Additional Information
  • Hourly pay: $32.00 per hour.
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE certification obtained up to $700 total.
  • Quarterly bonus: up to $500 per quarter (four times per year).
  • Schedule:

    Monday–Friday; weekends off; second shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm.
  • Annual merit pay increases; on-the-job paid training.
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k) with company match; start at 30 days.
  • Paid time off accrual starting day one (80 hours/year); additional time off for U.S. military veterans.
  • PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance provided.
