Responsibilities- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance.
- Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic equipment as applicable.
- Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision.
- Replaces defective components as instructed and works unsupervised on most tasks.
- Performs facility maintenance duties and interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the issue.
- Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation; adheres to all safety, DOT, MOT compliance guidelines.
- Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels and demonstrates access to internal and external maintenance documents.
- Other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support.
- SBTIII training within 180 days (SBT
220) and completion of OEM On-Line diagnostic software courses as required by location.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational/Technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred.
- Basic tools required.
- Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work).
- Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems, required.
- Three or more years of relevant work experience preferred.
- CDL Class A preferred; other location-specific certifications as required by location.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy- and medium-duty equipment.
- Proficiency with computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire; pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background/motor vehicle check for last 3 years.
- Hourly pay: $32.00 per hour
- Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained (up to $700)
- Quarterly bonus: up to $500 per quarter
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday; weekends off - Second shift: 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm
