Nurse Practitioner; ARNP or Physician Assistant; PA - Mercy Pulmonology Clinic

This position supports Mercy's philosophy of patient centered care by assisting with clinical care, education and direction of their respective program. The Advanced Practice Provider works in collaboration with a physician and other team members to provide care to patients and their families.

Job Duties

Maintains current knowledge regarding state and federal regulations impacting practice.

Demonstrates leadership of the health care team through teaching, coaching, and supporting to advance plan of care.

Initiates appropriate referrals and performs consultations.

Synthesizes data from a variety of sources to make clinical judgments and decisions about appropriate recommendations and treatments.

Assesses the needs of families and caregivers.

Assists with the management of the plan of care through the evaluation, modification, and documentation according to the patient's response to therapy, change in condition, and to therapeutic interventions to optimize patient outcomes.

Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions in collaboration with the supervising physician.

Manages diagnostic tests through ordering, performing, interpreting, and supervising in the assessment process.

Performs and documents complete, system-focused, and/or symptom specific physical and psychosocial examination.

Department Specific Duties

Participates in call coverage specific to specialty.

Ensures accurate billing and coding for services provided in the hospital and office.

Communicates care plans and transitions of care to fellow providers in the team.

Professional Experience

Experience in the evaluation and management of patients in specialty area required.

Education

Licensure, Certification, Registration

Currently licensed to practice as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Iowa required.

Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse & Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required. Employee must submit certification of completed training to Human Resources prior to start or transfer date.
