Position: Senior Electrical Project Manager – Electrical Construction (Commercial & Industrial)

Senior Electrical Project Manager

Our partner, a leading electrical contractor, is seeking an exceptional Senior Electrical Project Manager to support its established operations in Eastern Iowa. This individual will plan, manage, and oversee large industrial and commercial electrical construction projects, including design-build engagements. The Senior Electrical Project Manager leads project execution from project award through closeout by managing quality, safety, resources, schedules, and financial performance.

This role collaborates closely with internal project teams and external partners to ensure successful project delivery. Leveraging industry expertise and market insight, the Senior PM will contribute to electrical market planning and play a key role in achieving operational and financial goals. This individual builds strong customer and vendor relationships, collaborates with business development teams, ensures accurate change order management, and proactively identifies and addresses project risks.

The Senior PM drives success for people, projects, and partners through strong leadership, project oversight, and financial accountability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review assigned projects’ contractual requirements, specifications, and scope
  • Develop and maintain overall project schedules with defined milestones and critical paths
  • Coordinate closely with fabrication, asset management, field supervision, and project teams to align schedules and resources
  • Conduct weekly short-interval planning, including detailed work breakdown structures and productivity tracking
  • Attend project meetings and visit job sites to collaborate with field leaders, general contractors, and clients to ensure performance expectations are met
  • Ensure projects maintain strong safety and quality standards through inspections, observations, and task-level planning
  • Lead and manage field teams while supporting continuous learning and professional development
  • Coordinate external resources including vendor selection and subcontractor management
  • Monitor project performance against budget and schedule while supporting forecasting and corrective action planning
  • Maintain strong client relationships by proactively addressing concerns, resolving issues, and communicating project successes
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of project documentation, inspections, approvals, and billing processes
  • Coordinate project closeout, evaluate project performance, and implement improvements for future work
  • Utilize construction management, scheduling, purchasing, and collaboration tools effectively
Position Requirements
  • Seven years of electrical project management experience in commercial and industrial construction, or a combination of a bachelor’s degree in construction management or electrical engineering and five years of project management experience
  • Demonstrated success managing large electrical construction projects while meeting safety, production, quality, budget, scope, and schedule expectations
  • Proven ability to lead, manage, and mentor project managers and field teams
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including collaboration and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to interpret plans, specifications, contracts, financial documents, and project data
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for project calculations and financial analysis
  • Demonstrated problem solving, decision making, and business judgment
  • Strong organizational, time management, and follow-through abilities
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel for project needs
  • CPMP certification preferred
