Overview
This position is with the Iowa Department of Corrections – Sixth District.
The Community Corrections Supervisor – High Risk Unit will oversee 11 certified officers within the district. The sixth district encompasses 6 counties in Iowa (Jones, Johnson, Linn, Iowa, Tama and Benton).
The Community Corrections Supervisor is responsible for developing and overseeing the high-risk unit.
Responsibilities- Supervise 11 high risk officers and 1 HRU reserve officer.
- Provide operational oversight and evaluation of the high-risk unit.
- Case management review which includes audits, case assignments and daily case reviews.
- Serve as a member of the district’s leadership team, meeting as scheduled and participating in decision-making processes.
- Be the Law Enforcement representative for the district to community and partner agency meetings and committees.
- Participate in personnel processes, including hiring, promotion, and employee discipline. In consultation with the Division Manager, Assistant and District Director, take the lead on employee grievances or complaints.
- Department PREA investigator.
- Review critical incident reports to ensure they are submitted according to policy and review situations where critical incidents may need further debriefing or review.
- Provide input and oversight for the development and evaluation of the high-risk unit equipment and fleet. Manage 8 emergency squad cars. Ensure functioning and routine maintenance on duty equipment and supplies. Maintain the HRU budget.
- Develop, update and review HRU policies in accordance with annual requirements.
- Participate in statewide initiatives, programs, work groups, and projects, including serving on the district safety committee.
