Job Description

PART TIME CUSTODIAN II - 5:00 PM-10:00 PM

SALARY RANGE: $21.06 per hour

Principal Duties:
  • General cleaning, such as sweeping, cleaning carpets and blinds, emptying waste receptacles, cleaning toilet facilities and filling dispensers
  • Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs
  • Do yard works such as mowing, trimming, general cleanup and marking athletic fields
  • Keep walkways and entries clear of ice and snow
  • Help with receiving and storing supplies for the building cafeteria
  • Move and arrange furniture for school functions
  • Carry out additional requests from building principal and engineer, as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned
Qualification:
  • Knowledge of modern cleaning methods, use and care of materials, tools, and equipment
  • Ability to perform minor building repairs
  • Ability to plan, organize and carry out work schedules efficiently
  • Responsible attitude toward job and fellow workers
  • Must be in excellent physical condition
  • Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis
  • Effective oral and written communications
  • Computer literacy required
  • Ability to work independently
  • Aptitude for detail
  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions
  • Valid Iowa Driver's license and satisfactory driving record
  • Capable of representing the school District professionally (confidentiality, communications skills, professional image)
  • Pass the Physical Capacity Profile tests
  • Ability to solve problems effectively and interpret various instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, colleagues, community members, staff and students
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
Physical Demands:

Frequent standing, walking, climbing, handling objects, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching above head, pushing/pulling or lifting and moving heavy objects. Must be able to climb a ladder with a tool belt (~10 lbs), shovell ~30 lbs, push/pull 40 lbs, bucket lift ~50 lbs, office desk lift 90 lbs, transfer 50 lb to 41", lift from 37" to 67" shelf 30 lbs, carry 80 lbs for 20 ft, push/pull 90 lbs.

The job may require exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.

Working Environment:

Work is usually quiet but may involve areas requiring hearing protection. Work inside and outside during various weather conditions. Surfaces include tile, wood, terrazzo, concrete. Work may be damp.

Classification:

Category "A" of the salary schedule of Maintenance and Custodial.
