Qualifications
High school graduate. Previous training and experience in basic principles of mechanics, electricity, plumbing, hardware, and landscaping preferred. Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to operate common machines, hand tools, and equipment. Ability to read, write, and follow written directions. Experience in dealing with elderly and their needs and requests. Supervisory experience required. Ability to work well with others.
Must be well organized with time, attention to detail, and effective communication skills. Must possess consistent initiative, good judgment, and leadership ability.
To insure the overall care of the community maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry programs.
Essential FunctionsAssure the community and grounds are repaired and maintained in proper working order.
- Inspect buildings and grounds regularly for compliance with local, state, and federal codes, ordinances, and safety regulations.
- Maintain records of inspections, work performed, and costs.
- Occasionally supports housekeeping by cleaning resident rooms, utility areas, offices, and all common areas, according to daily, weekly, and monthly schedules. This includes vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sweeping, waxing, scouring, polishing, etc.
- Monitors and maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and communicates needs to Director.
- Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions to Executive Director. Assist with special projects and events.
- Remain on call for emergencies. Encourage residents to be as independent as possible. Develop positive relationships with residents and their families.
- Maintain confidentiality of residents, staff, and visitors.
- Demonstrate knowledge of safety management. Maintain MSDS manual for housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance chemicals.
- Must be able to work well with others as a team, managing time effectively.
- Pursue a program of continuing education in assisted living, and Alzheimer’s/dementia, in order to maintain, strengthen, and develop increased knowledge and skills as Director of Maintenance.
