Job Summary

The Crew Lead - Structured Cabling will act as the on‑site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects. The Crew Lead's task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Consistently run major project crews, assume responsibility for effective performance, and provide necessary training.
  • Assume responsibility for compliance with company and customer safety and quality guidelines and hold weekly safety meetings.
  • Initiate performance‑related communications and elevate issues to the Project Manager when needed.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager/Project Lead to ensure productivity, job completion, and compliance with the project budget.
  • Accurately and on schedule complete all project paperwork including timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers, and others as required.
  • Perform quality checks; coordinate moves and cut sheets for voice and data cross‑connects; prepare red‑lined as‑built drawings.
  • Serve as the main on‑site customer contact for questions and/or concerns; attend facility and construction meetings when required.
  • Perform work consistently demonstrating detailed technical knowledge; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

  • Possesses proven problem‑solving, critical thinking skills, and ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentations.
  • Can work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Can stand and walk large job sites regularly.
  • Can see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • Ready to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Regular attendance is mandatory.

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
  • Experience terminating fiber.
  • Minimum six (6) months of supervisory and/or managerial experience.
  • Proficiency in using the tools listed above.
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints and other project documents including specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
  • Knowledge of universal communications color codes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project).
  • Meets company minimum driving standards.
