We Are Looking to Add a Key Member to Our Data Delivery Team!

The Director, Data Governance role will be a strategic yet hands‑on data governance leader to design and implement Great America’s enterprise‑wide data governance program. This role will be responsible for building the foundational elements of data governance, including data classification, lineage, catalogs, tooling, and process design. The ideal candidate will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves to build and execute the program while influencing cross‑functional stakeholders.

As

a Director, Data Governance, You Will Program Design & Execution
  • Develop and lead the enterprise‑wide data governance framework aligned with OCC, FFIEC and other regulatory expectations, including frameworks, policies, standards, and controls.
  • Establish and maintain a system to monitor, test, and evaluate the effectiveness of the data governance program, including implemented mitigation activities, to identify deficiencies and implement process and control improvements and/or other remedial actions.
  • Establish and maintain data classification schemes, data lineage tracking, and metadata management practices.
  • Select and implement data governance tools and platforms (e.g., data cataloging, stewardship, lineage).
  • Define and operationalize data ownership and stewardship models across business units.
Data Quality & Oversight
  • Oversee data quality initiatives, including monitoring, remediation, and reporting.
  • Manage a Data Quality Analyst responsible for profiling, cleansing, and validating data assets.
  • Develop and enforce data quality KPIs and dashboards to track progress and impact.
Collaboration & Enablement
  • Partner with IT, analytics, legal, risk, compliance, and business teams to embed governance into daily operations.
  • Serve as a change agent for data governance, promoting awareness and adoption across the organization.
  • Facilitate data governance councils or working groups to ensure alignment and accountability.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure data governance practices support applicable legal and regulatory requirements and contractual commitments to third parties.
  • Identify and mitigate data‑related risks, including data access, privacy, security, and ethical use.
  • Manage technical consent and opt‑in/opt‑out controls to ensure compliant data flows and usage across systems.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Need Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required.
Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of work experience in a data governance role.
  • Experience with building a data governance function preferred.
Other Requirements
  • Strong understanding of data lifecycle management, metadata, and governance tooling.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional initiatives and managing direct reports.
  • Ability to balance strategic vision with hands‑on execution.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and follow‑through skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Role will likely include periodic large project‑oriented demands with tight deadlines requiring more than standard work hours and the need to respond quickly.
  • Must demonstrate sound business judgment.
